Can Russians Apply for Portugal Golden Visa?

Russia / Portugal Flags

We get a lot of questions from Russian nationals asking about the eligibility for Golden visa programs. We clarify some information here.

The Portugal golden visa program is open to Russian/Belarusian nationals but on certain conditions. In general, Russians living in Russia cannot apply for Golden Visa/CBI programs due to international sanctions in place.

Exceptions: Russian citizens living abroad (eg. UK, EU, Canada, USA, UAE) with valid residence permit can still apply for Portuguese golden visa. However, opening a bank account in Portugal could be very difficult for Russian nationals and can be hurdle for GV process, unless they can show proof of EU residency.

Currently we are able to offer 500,000 euro Investment fund option for Portugal golden visa. The processing times from filing ARI application to receiving residence permit take 10-12 months.
