Malta publishes names of IIP citizens in Gazette

Malta passport

The Government of Malta every year publishes names of all foreign citizens, who naturalized for citizenship in Malta Official Gazette. The list also includes names and surnames of foreigners who acquired citizenship by investment through Individual investor program (IIP) and Exceptional direct citizenship program.

According to Maltese Citizenship Act Cap 188, not later than fifteen days after the end of every quarter the Minister shall cause to be published in the Government Gazette a list containing the name and surname of all the persons who shall have become citizens of Malta by registration or by naturalisation during the immediately preceding quarter.

The Government gazette does not differentiate between citizens who naturalized by normal procedure and those who obtained through citizenship by investment program (IIP investors) making it impossible to differentiate the invested citizens.

Some 6100 people became new citizens of Malta in 2017 alone, according to the list below.

The Minister for Citizenship has the power to remove names from the list for security reasons, but the default policy is to publish all names.
