Portugal golden visa scheme continues to be main attraction for foreign investors. According to report published by SEF immigration office, on average 80 ARI visas are issued every month for investing.

It is important to note that Portuguese, EU and EEE nationals (including Swiss nationals) are not eligible for the ARI / Golden Visa scheme. All third country nationals from in and out of EU are eligible to apply for the golden visa scheme.

The beneficiaries of ARI / Golden Visa are entitled to:

  • Residence visa waiver for entering Portugal;
  • Living and working in Portugal, on condition that they stay in Portugal for a period of 7 or more days, in the first year, and 14 or more days, in the subsequent years;
  • Visa exemption for free movement within the Schengen Area (as EU resident)
  • Family reunification;
  • Permanent residence status after 5 years
  • Portuguese nationality by naturalization

Monthly Report (July 2022)

For the month of July 2022, a total of 67 ARI golden visas were issued for property investments and 38 for capital transfers making a total of 43 millions euros deposited under ARI regime. The top investors by country are USA, China, Brazil, South Africa and Turkey
