How to certify documents for CBI applications?

Certification

Presenting the right documents is the key to get faster approvals and avoid delays with government authorities. All those who chose to apply for citizenship by investment must prepare the initial documents with proper certifications well ahead atleast two months in advance. The documentation process for main applicant and family members is quite cumbersome and takes a lot of time.

All supporting documents to be produced for applications for Citizenship by Investment programs, must be certified and authenticated in accordance with the law of the jurisdiction from where the document originates.

Lawyer or Notary public

The person for example (lawyer, translator, notary, doctor) certifying the document, they must provide the following information;

  • Full name in capitals,
  • The capacity in which the person is acting,
  • Residential or business address,
  • Telephone number and e-mail address.

The medical examiner producing the Health certificate must also provide the above credentials. Any translated copies must provide this information.

International certification

When a notary public certifies a document to be a true copy of the original, that document must be authenticated by:

a)       An apostille in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention of 5th October 1961 abolishing the requirement for legislation for foreign public documents, in the case of a jurisdiction that is a party to that convention.

b)      Validation of the certificate of the notary public by the appropriate government department in the case of a jurisdiction that is not a party to that convention.

Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney – (between the Main Applicant and Accredited Agent) A certified Power of Attorney should be signed and dated, in blue ink by every applicant 18 (eighteen) years and older. Ensure that the Power of Attorney specifies that it grants the authority to process personal data, to apply for the citizenship for all persons indicated as applicants for citizenship, and to submit all application documents, to sign the requests for transcription and to collect the passport/ passports
