The Investment Migration Agency of Grenada (formerly Grenada CBIU) was establishment in February 2014, under the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act 2013, offering individuals and families from around the globe the opportunity to acquire a second citizenship through investment.
The Grenada CIU unveiled its new brand name known as the Investment Migration Agency (IMA) Grenada on March 25, 2024 as a part of rebranding strategy by government.
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Programme was launched in August 2013, when the Grenadian Parliament passed Act No. 15 of 2013, otherwise referred to as the ‘Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013. Grenada’s Citizenship by Investment Programme allows individuals and their families to obtain citizenship or permanent residence. Applicants must apply through licensed agents, and may not make submissions to the Government on their own behalf.

IMA Grenada was designed to attract foreign direct investment into our nation, whilst also protecting the value of Grenadian citizenship and its reputation across the globe. At the Citizenship by Investment Committee we thoroughly review all applications, ensuring that the Citizenship by Investment Programme is kept exclusive to investors who will uphold the integrity, prestige, and honour of Grenadian citizenship, while also encouraging innovation, industry, and private enterprise on our wonderful country.
- Application processing: The IMA receives, reviews, and processes applications for citizenship through investment.
- Due diligence checks – The office performs several layers of due diligence checks of candidates applying for CBI program processing applications.
- Regulatory oversight: It oversees the entire application process, including due diligence checks, and makes recommendations to the Minister of Finance, who has the final authority on approvals.
- Transparency and reporting: The agency publishes quarterly reports and statistics on the program’s performance, including the number of applications received, processed, approved, and denied, to ensure accountability and inform the public.
- Real Estate – Approval of qualifying real estate developments under citizenship by investment program.
- Program management: The IMA manages the program’s operations and strategic initiatives, including a recent move to a new office to accommodate increased activity and international stakeholders.
- Economic development: By managing the CBI program, the agency contributes to Grenada’s economic growth and nation-building efforts.
Grenada CBIC
The Grenada Citizenship by Investment Committee (CBIC) is the Government body responsible for overseeing the processing of applications for citizenship by investment or by permanent residence. The CBIC assesses each application in accordance with the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Act, 2013. It then makes recommendations to the Minister, who has the final say on whether to approve, deny, or delay the granting of Grenadian citizenship.
The CBIC comprises of seven persons, all of whom answer to the Minister. One of these individuals leads the CBIC as committee chairman. This diverse group of professionals possesses a wealth of experience in areas such as law, finance, trade, and administration – allowing the CBIC to make informed decisions on citizenship matters.
