The Latvian passport has been ranked 8th powerful in the World, a powerful EU travel document with visa free access to 183 destinations, according to Henley Index 2025. The Latvian passport improved its rankings significantly from 26th in 2006 to 8th place in 2025. Citizens of Latvia enjoy unrestricted rights to live, work and study in EU member states.
Latvian Passport
The Latvian passport (Latvijas pilsoņa pase) are issued to citizens of Latvia for identity and international travel purposes being valid for 10 years if the citizen is 20 or older, for 5 years if 5–20 and for 2 years if 0–5 years old.

Non Citizen Passport
A Latvian non-citizen passport (brown), also known as an Alien’s passport, is an identity document issued to stateless persons with permanent residency in Latvia who are not citizens of any other country. It functions as an internationally recognized travel document, but it does not grant the holder the same rights as a citizen and does not exempt them from visa requirements
