Solomon Islands CIP Still Under Development

The Solomon Islands government has clarified the citizenship by investment program is still under development and the Policy Unit of the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet provided some updates.

According to local news sources, The SI Governments has reaffirmed that “No lawful Citizenship by Investment program is currently in place”. Until officially launched through the proper legal channels, there is no valid avenue to acquire Solomon Islands citizenship by investment.

In Sep 2024, The Government submitted a Draft of Citizenship by Investment bill is completed by Attorney Generals Chambers subject to further review before it is submitted to Cabinet for consideration and tabled in parliament. The proposed citizenship investor program will attract foreign investment into the economy that will supplement current government revenue streams.

The CIP of Solomon Islands grants Ordinary Passport to individuals and their family members that have fulfilled the strict due diligence requirements that will be implemented to ensure the program is transparent and accountable.

In 2023, Solomon Islands amended the 2018 citizenship act to include grounds for residence in the country and maintaining close ties to the country through investing in property and financial contributions to the economy.

The Constitution Amendment)(Dual Citizenship) Bill 2018 effectively removes prohibition on dual citizenship.

The Solomon Islands Government is closely monitoring international developments, particularly those of the Republic of Vanuatu and other jurisdictions are being carefully analyzed to ensure that any future program is transparent, secure, and fully aligned with the Solomon Islands’ Constitution and national interests.

The CIP Program shall never be commercialized in a manner that compromises the sovereignty, dignity, or identity of the Solomon Islands

The Citizenship by Investment program based on rigorous due diligence, transparency, robust regulation, and above all, the preservation of Solomon Islands’ sovereignty and national pride.

The Cabinet and PM office warns all investors and organizations to disregard any unauthorized advertisements, solicitations, or representations related to the Solomon Islands’ Citizenship by Investment program. Any partnership with external agents will be tightly regulated, transparent,
