Antigua CIP Extends to Families Across Five Generations

Antigua and Barbuda - Citizenship Investment Program (CIP)

Antigua and Barbuda is the only citizenship by investment programme (CIP) in the Caribbean, granting full citizenship upto fifth generation family members including grandchildren.

Antigua CIP program provides the best solution for inclusion of family dependents costwise and agewise. Family members can be added at the beginning of application or post approval in the future.

Alternate Main Applicant

Key Amendments made to the CIP Act of 2024, makes it possible to nominate alternate family member, in the “beginning” of citizenship application, so if the principal applicant passes away, this way he/she can designate another main applicant to include more family members. Incase of single applicant, who has no family, they can designate alternate main applicant (eg. spouse/child) after approval, to receive citizenship in the future. This key feature makes it possible to pass down citizenship to future generation of family including grandchildren.

  •  Generation 1 – Grandparents (of main applicant and spouse)
  • Generation 2 – Parents (of main applicant spouse)
  • Generation 3 – Applicant, Siblings, Spouse
  • Generation 4 – Children (adopted and biological and physically handicapped)
  • Generation 5 – Grandchildren

Allowed Family Dependents

The following categories of family members can now file under a single family application under the CIP programme. Note the age limit and other conditions.

  • Grandchildren of principal applicant can be added later, if parent is below 55 years of age.
  • Children under 30 years not required to provide financially dependent. Physically or mentally handicapped child can be of ANY age must be fully supported by MA (main applicant).
  • Spouse of dependent child (under 35 years) can now be included in the family application.
  • Unmarried siblings have no age limit, along with their spouse can be added to family application.
  • Parents or Grandparents (with their spouses) above 55 years now permitted provided fully supported by MA. No age limit apply if physically or mentally handicapped person.

“Previously in the industry, we are known to have the best definition of dependents. We have actually made it better, so five generations of family members can be included on one application, either included in the application when initially submitted or post approval.”

-Chairmaine Quinland-Donovan, CEO of CIU Antigua
