Dominica Suspends Applications from Yemen

The Dominica Citizenship by investment Unit has announced suspension of all new applications from Yemen nationals effective from Jan 19, 2024. The announcement was made in a circular sent to all agents and promoters of the CBI program. The CBI unit said the measures were taken to safeguard the global community and integrity of the citizenship by investment programme.

According to Dominica CBIU, Nationals from following countries are excluded from applying for citizen by investment program

  • Northern Iraq – Kurdistan region of Iraq, namely nationals from the cities of Erbil, Amedi, Dahuk, Kirkuk, Lalish, Raniya, Soran, Sulaymaniyah and Zakho.
  • Russia and Belarus – Any new applications submitted on behalf of Russian and Belarusian nationals will not be processed.
  • North Korea / Sudan – Application from citizens of North Korea and Sudan will be refused unless the applicant has (1) not lived in these countries for at least ten years, (2) no substantial assets there, and (3) not performed any business or similar activity, in whole or in part, in or with the countries.
  • Iran – Enhanced due diligence will be conducted on applicants who are citizens or domiciled in Iran.

Dominica has made changes tunder CBI regulations published in 2023, with stricter criteria for investors applying for CBI.

Candidates seeking citizenship via investment, do not qualify for Dominica citizenship, if they have been denied a visa to the European Union, United Kingdom, United States of America or Canada and has not subsequently obtained a visa to, or residence permit for that country. Applicants can be be refused, if  denied citizenship in any other country;

All applicants aged 16 and over will be subject to an interview fee of US$1,000 per interview. This fee requirement applies to all CBI applications submitted since 17 July 2023. Authorised Agents are required to contact the CBIU to arrange the payment of the required fee for all applicants submitted since 17 July 2023 to date.
