Documents for Portugal Golden Visa Application

Please prepare the following documents in advance before applying for Golden visa scheme in Portugal. This will save lot of time on the long run. These documents must be submitted to the lawyer who handles the GV application process. The rest of the property documents are prepared by lawyers in Portugal.

First Steps

The first three basic steps of PGV application is

  • Obtaining a Portuguese Tax Number;
  • Opening a Portuguese Bank Account;
  • Transfer into the Portuguese Bank Account the funds addressed to property investment.

Application process

The application itself is compressed of 3 main steps:

  • Application (through the Immigration Office’s website, where scanned copies of the required documentation are uploaded);
  • Pre-Approval: The Immigration Office will analyze and rule on the application submitted online. The pre-approval means that the Immigration Offices confirms the documentation is complete and valid, allowing you to move forward to the actual submission of the original documentation and biometrics collections (fingerprint scanning, digital photo and digital signature);
  • Schedule of Appointment for Documentation Submission and Biometrics Collection (visit in person).

Bank account opening

we would need the following documentation:

  • Passport copy;
  • Proof of address;
  • Proof of employment;
  • Tax Number (ID card) from origin and residency country;
  • Portuguese Tax Number. (passport, address proof and PoA required)
  • Bank statement
  • Tax Return (sometimes requested by the bank)

Family dependants

Below are full list of documents for investor and along with family members who are applying for residence permits

Main Applicant/ Investor

  • Passport
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin or the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Proof of taxpayer number/ TIN from the country of origin, country of residence or country of tax residence (if possible)

Spouse

  • Passport
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Marriage certificate, issued in the last 6 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Non-marital partnership

  • Passport
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Supporting documents or evidence of the non-marital partnership (e.g. common children, proof of joint residence, non-marital partnership certificate, joint bank account)
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Son / daughter under 16-year-old

  • Passport Birth certificate, issued in last 12 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Son/daughter over 16-year-old

  • Passport
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Certificate of enrolment in an educational institution
  • Non-marriage certificate (if over 18-year-old), issued in last 6 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Stepchildren under 16-year-old

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate, issued in last 12 months
  • ID Marriage certificate (main applicant and spouse), issued in last 6 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Stepchildren over 16-year-old

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate, issued in last 12 months
  • Marriage certificate (main applicant and spouse), issued in last 6 months
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Certificate of enrolment in an educational institution
  • Non-marriage certificate (if over 18-year-old), issued in last 6 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Adopted children under 16-year-old

  • Passport Certificate of the decision that decreed the adoption and certificate of the decision of the national authority that recognized it
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Adopted children over 16-year-old

  • Passport
  • Certificate of the decision that decreed the adoption and certificate of the decision of the national authority that recognized it
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Certificate of enrolment in an educational institution
  • Non-marriage certificate (if over 18-year-old), issued in last 6 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Parents under 65- year-old

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate of the main applicant, issued in last 12 months
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Proof of economic dependency (e.g. bank statements showing regular transfers from the main applicant, proof of joint residence, retirement certificate)
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Parents over 65-year-old

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate of the main applicant, issued in last 12 months
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months before the submission
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Parents-in-law under 65-year-old

  • Passport
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Proof of economic dependency (e.g. bank statements showing regular transfers from the main applicant, proof of joint residence, retirement certificate)
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Parents-in-law over 65-year-old

  • Passport
  • Birth certificate of the main applicant’s spouse, issued in last 12 months
  • Marriage certificate (main applicant and spouse), issued in last 6 months
  • Criminal record certificate from the country of origin and the country of residence, issued in last 3 months
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Dependant sibling under 18

  • Passport
  • Certificate of decision that decreed the guardianship and certificate of the decision of the national authority.
  • Term of responsibility (official form)

Important: All documents except passport and term of responsibility require legalisation from Portuguese embassy abroad (or) an apostille stamp. All documents must be translated into portuguese language and legalized. Please make sure your passport has more than 6 months validity before you apply
