29% of UHNWI interested in second passport

Second Passport

Interest is picking up with Ultra high-net worth investors (UHNWI) with second passports and dual nationality.

Data from Knight Frank Attitudes Survey 2019 indicates that

  • 36% of UHNWIs already hold a second passport, up from 34% last year, and
  • 29% are considering for second passports
  • 26% planning to emigrate permanently, up from 21%.

A record 26% of global UHNWIs will begin to plan for emigration this year, seeking citizenship and residency through investment schemes.

The footprint of the ultra-wealthy is also growing larger when it comes to property investment.

The total UHNWIs existing worldwide increased to 250,000 in 2019. UHNWI are those who have net assets of $30 million or more.

Asian countries will see the biggest growth in UHNWIs over the next five years. India leads with 39% growth, followed by the Philippines (38%) and China (35%).

India is witnessing a substantial rise in personal wealth. The country’s UHNWI population has grown by 30% in the past five years.
